We can’t send young people on mission trips this summer.

That reality cuts deep for us.

We won’t be able to send students like Sunee who went to Nicaragua and there felt God call her to a life of missions. She’s now working in Uganda helping women at risk.

Or students like Rocky, who is blind and partially deaf. He wants to be a preacher. We arranged for him to come with us to Alaska and there realize his dream to preach the Gospel.

There will be villages in Fiji who were expecting us to bring our medical team that will be so disappointed. Villagers who would have received glasses that would have been life altering. Pastors who we are able to encourage by going places no tourist ever goes will be left alone. Again.

It breaks our heart.

We know it’s not our fault and there is nothing we can do about it but it still hurts. There are people who need to hear about Jesus. And we can’t go and tell them.

There are still young people who need to experience mission work first hand. To go out to the places no one else wants to go. To share the gospel one-on-one with people who’ve never heard. To stand hand in hand with our veteran missionaries on the field and see the harvest though God’s eyes.

The things we would have done next fall as a result of our teams going this summer will now no longer be funded. A portion of each trip comes back to GPM to help fund our staff in building the next years trips. Not having any trips in 2020 will impede our ability to build trips for 2021, and now more than ever we need resources to build into the unknown.

We will lose about 47,000 by not having trips in 2020.

We were expecting 566 travelers this year. An average of $85/traveler.

It could have been more, but we will never know since we shut down sign-ups three months earlier than we normally do each year.
